She had a chapter 7 bankruptcy 4 years ago (that she readily informed of on application) and I'm deducing that it was due to medical from her husband. 

I have a BS and MS in Engineering and I design Class III medical devices for a living.   

Financial, medical etc.

When I search there are some commercial NNN properties which are around or over $1MM with corporate guaranteed leases for atleast 10 years and goes up to 20 years (like Fast food Restaurant chains, Banks, medical offices etc).

It's just that I'm anticipating a "better" tax situation next year - that is, for personal medical reasons in my family, I'm anticipating a lower level of income next year.

Are you sure it isn't medical? 

Be it our job is tearing our family apart or we get medically separated. 

Moreover, most of the people living in these areas drive 30 minutes per day to downtown Houston and Houston Medical Center.  

@Michael Joseph Allen II, why not get one of those little houses in the medical district or Heart of Lubbock that has a separate apartment on the lot.

A lot of the newer 4-Plex in areas such as the Medical Center come with higher Purchase prices compared to the Rental Income.
