It likely wasn't the most efficient system, but it was certainly worth it in the end.  

Finding good deals is commonly discussed as the key to successful investing (and it's a huge part of it) but managing your assets efficiently is just as important. 

Not trying to deter you from trying, but important for all parties to have appropriate expectations and that they are efficient with the time they have to put a deal together when it comes to distressed assets and clients.

SFHs demand the highest per-unit price and you don't really start getting efficiencies of scale until you're building a few dozen units (at least).
