Look into a place with a second suite whether it is a duplex or in-law suite. 

This is a long shot here but we've run out of options, wondering if any investors would be willing to fund a lawsuit to get our family farm back, we have 76 acres of prime land on HWY 12 in Sauk City, WI.

With that said I would recommend making the decision based on asset type, by state, legal jurisdiction for lawsuits, etc.  

They are a larger target for lawsuits due to their equity position (yes, lending can be viewed as a "defense" tactic).  

Find one with an in law suite.

From the books I've read, the advice is to keep paperwork from tenants and applicants for years after in case of lawsuits. 

I have discussed the LLC with different lawyers and they all advised to create a single LLC for each property, in case you would face a lawsuit on of your properties, the others could be threaten as well.

To avoid this most of the local apartments charge $100-$200 late fees, but in the event there is a court case with late fees, they will just drop the late fees when filing for a lawsuit for possession and back rent.

I got all lawsuits settled but they hurted me badly and I am looking for the best asset protection attorney there is, I am looking for the cream of the crop.
