I’ve done a couple of apartments in Baltimore, a 12- unit and a 22 unit, and I’m working on a hotel deal in the city.  

It seems a construction project would only last so long, so usually people like this rent from places like AirBNB or hotels that rent rooms by the week.Getting paid is only one concern in this business.

The key is to create a fully self sustaining team that you can rely upon in each geography that you do business.If you were creating a restaurant, a hotel, a technology company, would you even consider these without hiring the right people?

You no doubt had other direct financial losses, such as hotel bills. 

Most likely won't happen but In a worst case the current tenants having to be placed into a hotel due to the extent of the renovation being done.

Special rules apply to mobile home parks, residential hotels and rooming houses, dormitories and community residences, residential superintendents, public housing, and other government subsidized leasing arrangements.

Have you examined the requirements under NJ's Multiple Dwelling and Hotel Act (the law that governs the issuance of a 'Green card' for residential properties of 3 units or more)?

If they don't stay with family -- I assume THEY would pay for a hotel.

@Padma Mody  You will likely have to compensate them for the hotel and maybe some meals.

The largest hotel/casino closed in mid const, never a good sign!!
