I suggest the REI groups as previously suggested in addition to reading as much as you can, focusing on one aspect of RE, and watching information and motivation videos from YouTube such as Earl Nightengale, over 10 years later and I still do these things every day.

Watch a demo, review the product forums and study the service before you commit. 

Although I had a RE team buying them so I never got into how they did it.had to watch out for the Chinese dry wall

@Anje Walfoort  I fly all over the country so I am not one who watch's my device on the plane its my reading time.. 

You can also keep an eye out on homes that are soon to become REO by watching the foreclosure auctions that are happening.
