If not, my experiences with designing for families is that once kids are teens they retreat to their bedrooms on their phones, and only come out for pizza, so don’t worry about a “family space that includes teens.”

Anyone who got into the RE game after 2010 really hasn't been in the business long enough to experience a down cycle.  

Does anyone have experience with a similar issue or insight to share on this matter?

In my experience these companies try to nickel and dime you as much as they can to increase their profits.
