You could go back and ask for the mower back, the other party may give it to you but if they don't you must attempt to gain possession legally and with the homeowner claiming ownership you're out of luck.

And then you come to realize the offsetting negative, that what's good is bad because everybody now becomes your competitor (although not necessarily competent).Conversely, becoming an expert in courthouse records retrieval qualifies you to be privy to knowledge that others do not possess.

@Sean Krohn The property was still in the sellers possession when the arrangements were made, so it's a foregone conclusion.

It can vary by state, but in general you'd have a holdover tenant and you'd need to evict to regain possession of the property.

Document the process with a letter stating that you agree to break the lease in return for immediate possession of the unit and have everyone sign it. 

When we took possession of our unit in a brand new building, there was a long list of units already up for rent.

I am asking that they sign a new month to month lease, for the same rent, within seven days of me taking possession.
