Personally I would hire an onsite person for some handyman tasks but I would stay away from them handling money related items.

Being an Owner/Builder and hiring subs yourself is not legal in a lot of states (unless it is on your own primary residence).

Did you work with any real estate professionals (agents, lenders, etc.) that you'd recommend to others?

In my experience, the buyer's agent I interviewed and hired became vested in my goals and needs as compared to an agent who didn't know me. 

I'd want to hire a design-build firm at the very least, but beyond that, would it make sense to bring in a developer who's done this before?
