A question I have been pondering within myself for some time and figured here would be a good place to get an answer.I currently own a home that has close to 100k in equity in it, we plan to move in 3-5 years to our long term house and would be sizing up a fair amount.So my question is should I use the equity to fund investments/projects, or should I save it and roll it all into my next house so I can have it paid off sooner/lower my monthly.

For those of you that use an LLC purely and solely to hold the real estate, and has a separate LLC that manages the real estate holdings, when the rent is paid,  does that rent payment go on the books of the LLC that only holds the real estate?

I used to have several out of state investors who would buy houses in Memphis via the online tax sale auction, then hold them for a year so the redemption period ended, then they would hire an attorney to "quiet" the title which would take 4-6 months and cost roughly $5000 but then they had clear title and would sell it "as-is" to other investors or hire me and list it on the MLS and get higher offers.

The unique part is that the duplex is in the city and is on a huge corner lot that is 1/3 of an acre so could potentially hold another structure and the sale also comes with the neighboring lot that is smaller but is also large enough to build a structure.
