I'd say it depends really on your objectives with investing.

There are a lot of shiny objects in REI, you have to stay focused.

Either way it is a gift.To look at this objectively, ask yourself this question.

Having lived there has nothing to do with whether it fits your objectives and criteria.

@Drew Slew I'm certainly not an expert, but just looking at your second solution objectively I would think that would just make matters worse if there is a concern about the rooming house issue.

You and other investors invest in a fund that could have a few different objectives.

I know when I worked as an insurance specialist it was enough to deter the client from purchasing quite a few times.  

I simply asked YOU if you were condemning their actions because you thought they were wholesalers (although they never claimed to be) or if your objection was to their actual actions.
