If Greece actually defaults on its own debt, the value of those bonds to the banks that own them will drop significantly but in all likelihood, those bonds will still trade albeit for a fraction of their value (I can't say pennies on the dollar as they are denominated in Euros).

Like you, I have yet to find a property in my area that meets the typical BP guidelines, but successful investors still buy and hold property in my area for long-term holds because my area is like a AAA bond - the yield is a bit lower, but it's rock-solid security-wise and values go up quite a bit over long periods of time because of how desirable the area is.
