If it's your first, then I would definitely have a lawyer look at it just in case.

The woman, thinking she could save the homes, deeded them back into her name and got a letter stating she had committed fraud ( I guess this was sent by the same construction company and their lawyers). 

Get with a good lawyer who specializes in real estate to help you with this and to go over anything you're unclear of.

I have built a small team also, including RE agent, Lawyer, contractor, etc. 

If so, as much as I hate going that route, my lawyer would be on the phone with them immediately.
