You have the benefit of learning about real estate w/o having to invest a great deal of money, aside from the yearly/quarterly membership fee( a nominal fee), and you get to network with other investors face-to-face and ask questions.You can do a google search online for Milwaukee's REIA to find where one, or several are located.

If real estate agents don't like how NAR wields such control over them, they should get together and find a solution.States license people to sell real estate and as far as I know, do not mandate membership in NAR, however, without the marketing arm that is the MLS, people had little option in the past.

It's such a competitive rental market out there with rents going down and all kinds of freebies offered (free gym membership, free first month rent, low deposits, etc.) that we decided to just buy the new fridge and washer and hope for the best.

YOu have to be a licensed real estate agent and a Realtor(r) to get access to the MLS.Appart from getting your license and all the E&O insurance fees, licensing fees, continuing education fees, Realtor(r) membership fees and monthly MLS fees there is your time to consider.Also don't forget that your disclosure requirements change once you are licensed.

Both meet monthly close to my home and cost about the same for an annual membership.Any suggestions for a newbee - does the larger offer more benefits due to its membership size, or should I go with the smaller group so that I may be able to find a mentor and not get lost in the crowd?
