For that reason there is an ample supply of good workers willing to do those jobs that have the proper coverage.

In order to make this work, I've read it's a real numbers game, so I'm trying to find good ways to get ample deal flow to look at as many opportunities as possible. 

But my goal was twofold to attain equity in real estate and to have my properties cash flow profitably.

If it is a non-issue, I would write them a formal response stating that the stairway was built to code, decline to reimburse them and remind them that they had ample opportunity to inspect and measure prior to signing the lease.  

I have ample cash to invest in just about anything I wish to invest in.
