Hi @Sumit B.To start off, Cape Coral does have a 7 day rental minimum, however, this is an ordinance that pre-dates the STR industry and was originally targeting transient housing. 

I was originally told I would have tenants in place before closing and I missed my commercial loan was partially based on this. 

Starting a hard money lending company makes sense to me since I have hundreds of contacts in this business that I've built relationships for years, as well as it aligns with my origination background. 

Compare origination fee and rate mostly.  

The note investor who thought interest is paid on the original principal rather than the unpaid principal balance.  

Before reading this, I would have guessed the answers you got, more or less, I'm glad I was mostly correct.I wanted to reinforce a point, that I think was the reason for your original post.

They typically have multiple origination points (meaning very high closing costs) very high rates (compared to conventional but also compared to 6 month or longer waiting period DSCR products) and almost always have VERY long pre-payment periods up to 5 years.

Since it came directly above your apartment, I can assume the leak originated from your unit unless substantial evidence proves otherwise.
