Inspections are typically done by licensed professionals like structural engineers, architects, or certified building inspectors.

Based on your post (so far), I'd also recommend an inspector.

This was my first investment property and I had a poor inspector who missed all the electrical and even though the roof had about 5 years left my insurance company made me do that.

Point is - some building inspectors can be all-powerful.

I am looking to invest in rental properties in the Indianapolis and Charleston areas.

Obviously, you should work with a good agent, lender, and home inspector to assist with each phase to ensure you are getting the best deal.

You’ll also want to know how they handle rent collection and late payments and if they can provide references from other investors they work with.A good investor-friendly agent should have a strong network of professionals like contractors, inspectors, and lenders to help with your investments.
