Dishonest contractors that didn't finish the job and ran off with their money,  nightmare tenant stole the water heater and all the appliances after being evicted, etc.

If someone wants to be dishonest, they will.

There are a LOT more people who have honest struggles than there are dishonest people taking advantage.

The first is that the developer is dishonest by either scamming you or using your money for other purposes than the construction so you’d need to find out whether the developer is trustworthy.

Anyway.. it is very frustrating to see that on both sides of these transactions are the negative and unfortunate to say, dishonest and unhonorable.

They should stop doing that as it's unethical if not plain dishonest.

If they charged $200/hour but only logged 2 hours, I would say “wow, that’s a steep hourly rate,” but wouldn’t feel like they were dishonest.

Your claim that you spent time tutoring in poor minority neighborhoods isn't the slam-dunk you think it is - because if it's true, then it makes your comment about "recognized minorities" even worse, since you should have learned to see them as individuals, not a some monolithic group that you view as dishonest, untrustworthy and stupid.

I had a really bad experience with a real estate agent one time, I guess that makes them all dishonest.

The plot of the story is usually about an innocent host being taken advantage of by a dishonest or unreasonable guest.
