I am from the Bay Area I graduated from college last year, work full time, and I am looking to get into real estate.

In college I knew a guy that sold pot.

I have a college degree in business that emphasized real estate.  

Usually in a transition area, on the phone, you should be able to get to the person at the city/county who handles issuance of permits for building and remodeling can tell you a bunch about activity in a neighborhood.  

I got a college graduation and got a business degree that was emphasizing in real estate.  

I personally prefer classroom vs online courses if your schedule permits.

What would they tell me, just info regarding code enforcement and building permit type stuff?  

I actually set up my account on BP a while ago, but haven't done much with it because I have been bogged down in my last year of college.

I live in Rochester, my son attends RIT, and I work ~2 miles from the college.
