Hi, would love some input/advice on buying a small cottage in Saugerties, upstate New York(mid Hudson Valley).Looking at buying as a STR/vacation home for myself.

I am basing that off local comps and the fact that a 3 unit building that is smaller than mine directly across the street from mine is under agreement for 440k.

I used a friends self directed IRA for the purchase and my cash for the rehab.

We're now up to 37 doors and a part owner in another small business.

. :)I couldn't resist.As Jonathan noted, whenever anyone says "I want to invest in syndications" it is opening yourself up to being spammed by every possible capital raiser that lurks on these forums, proven or otherwise.Not being accredited does not stop you from buying property directly (you likely knew this) or from investing in the stock market into various real estate deals.

In theory, solar power is cheaper that what the local utility charges so you could generate an (small) income off of your solar investment.
