We have a wonderful second-hand home store very close to us where we purchased kitchen cabinets, hardware floors, etc.

Kitchen: refinish cabinets if they're in good shape, replace counter tops with granite or butcher block, add or refinish the backsplash (peal and stick surprisingly looks great, is inexpensive and a DIY), add or replace cabinet pulls, new faucet, appliances if needed.

Who opens kitchen cabinet doors to ensure they work.
