Even if they agreed to that they are governed by an (independent contractor) agreement with their brokerage they hang their license with.

Your appreciation at this point has provided a good ROI, and the question you can ask yourself is if it is going to appreciate at the rate it currently is and if that is the case is it worthwhile to hang on for a couple more years and then sell it.
