Hi @Daniel C.Your best bet is to ask neighbors and other people on your street as well as supers that look after buildings that hang around the area, they tend to know everyone on the block and who might sell who's looking to relocate, that's the best way to get a deal before the property goes on the market.I've got properties in both bedstuy and crown heights and I'm looking, I invested in a 2 family in ENY and that's also working out well. 

Cold calling SUCKS. lol Just make sure you have the mental fortitude to handle all the pissed off people yelling at you and hanging up.  

They have been removed from the more more more investor crowd that hang out on sites like Bigger Pockets who bit off more then they could chew.

@Kristin Brancaleone If you still had a mortgage on it and could afford to i'd say hang onto it.

If you still don't feel comfortable to go do a deal on your own right out of the gate, then it is always possible to joint venture with another investor in order to hedge your risk for your first couple deals until you get the hang of it.

Hang out with people that are going down that road or somebody that has allready been there.
