There are receptacles (outlets) and switches that are designed to work with aluminum.

Feedback I've received from all the electricians that I've worked with is that knob & tube is fine as long as its in its original state- meaning no splices, cracked/missing tubes, etc. and obviously you also need it connected to an ungrounded outlet. 

Food disposals (including how to un-jam with the provided wrench, and where the reset button is), certain types of tub spout diverters, GFCI outlets, circuit breakers, etc.

Very smart to have tenants that can change fuses, outlets or filters.  

We do 10-15 flips a year but I have been doing it for over 10 years and most of our purchases are cash through various outlets.
