I would greatly appreciate any advice you could offer on how to get started with buying your first property also Are there specific resources or strategies you found most helpful when you were starting out? 

I'm actively seeking:Guidance on navigating multifamily acquisitions (build vs. buy?)

Are you buying this in your name and then trying to quit claim into an LLC?

I have another subto student i'm partnered with and we're buying straight off the MLS for section 8 housing.

I was just wondering if buying properties and rehabbing them would be a good way to transition into becoming a residential developer eventually?

Before you buy you 1st build you awareness of real estate investing, potential team members that you will need over the journey that will likely last the rest of your life and commence recruiting people and investing time seeking out knowledge and WISDOM.Wisdom would say buy in the down cycles of the market and refi cheap when rates are low but investors often have ants in their pants.  

My husband and I are looking to buy our first ever real estate investment out of state (we live and rent in NYC. we do not want to buy here due to high cost of properties and high tax rates).

We are starting our business, and we will love to buy our first investment property in Detroit.
