@Jen Buchanan Be careful what expenses you choose, some expenses depend on what type of investing you're doing    For instance miles driven can be  expensed for rentals but not for  Capital gains   Made on flips     Things like staying at hotels and food are limited to investors that are considered dealers    Read up on what can be  expensed  for your particular type of investments and tax strategy    

#Tbt About 12 years ago I quit a 6 figures income sales job, took a loan against my 401k and decided to open a food truck business with 0 experience in the food industry.

Plus the food is always awesome!

As mentioned also, $1100/mo for a room with no kitchen/food.Typically bars and food service are money pits and do not make money (or very little).

I definitely will be implementing the food/diet into that mix as well in the future :).How do you like to implement exercise into your life?

Have not posted on BP in quite some time but here is some food for thought from another 20 something yr old investing in the midwest with an interest in Texas:About 2 weeks ago I purchased a one way flight from Indianapolis (my hometown) to San Antonio.

Go to open houses if available, hell off those agent to pay for the food they put out if they let you lurk and listen in for the day, this is what I used to do to best get a pulse of my target market.

Go have whatever food item you love and see if the town actually has a great bakery if croissants are your thing.
