I think the ease of use on the other OTA´s has skewed how people view Booking, but it is a really valuable revenue source IMO if you are willing to put in a little more work and deal with the occasional headache. 

STRs in Non-Traditional MarketsShort-term rentals in areas near universities or event venues are gaining popularity.

Depending on the situation, it could still be worth it for SFHs especially if you have capital gains or other income you need to offset this year.  

It’s more of a solution for owners who need liquidity but don’t want to sell their property outright, interacting with  advisers, agents, and other related people that are expensive and may be hard to connect with, or take on additional debt, including such debt like loans from banks and offline interactions, which require valuable time.

For what it's worth, I am not a massive success story who has turned that program into an STR empire, (yet) but I think the course and community are really valuable.
