Now, no one's going to die from this mix up, but it does speak to the identity of the person who is speaking the ratios.

The County or the Tax Claim Bureau basically has no liability for "misrepresentation" short of outright fraud.

Although I had several FRAUDS AND SCAMMERS-no--not the unlicensed broker kind--but the internet ones seeking advance fees, etc, I did manage to find one local that was sincere. 

He did tell me that the reason was that he had his identity stolen and his credit ruined.

I don't buy the "creative accountant" story unless they are committing tax fraud.

Unless you have hundreds of millions of dollars of mortgages that are all identical and meet certain requirements, you aren't getting good pricing.Again, this all depends on what you want to do.

The current unit that I'm considering is nearly identical to my unit (i.e. it is the same floor plan and one floor above) and does not have advantages in terms of number of bedrooms, size, reduction of noise or more light, etc.

If you buy it solely for investment it could be considered fraud.

I would not use any of your identity, come up with a creative name that means nothing to someone looking for your dirty laundry.
