I am looking at buying some fixer uppers as buy and hold investments to rent out so would be buying them using an investment loan but there would be a period of time where repairs are ongoing before a tenant moves in and I may want to live at the property to oversee the repairs and manage the work but I wouldn't necessarily be doing all of the work myself.

I was planning on painting it if possible.....Hi Erika,If it were mine, I would not paint the stones or bricks.Not all paint sticks to brick, and you are taking a maintenance free surface (low ongoing cost) and making it into something that will need to have money spent on it every so many years to repaint it.
