If you have internet connection onsite the meter has 5 year battery and you can read it remotely.The old versions basically had an outside meter in a lock box in parallel with the water line.  

Ideally, I would like to have each unit get a connection metered by the city, but is that even possible?

I will be moving out of the country for work and won't be back until 2026 so we only have a "local" market for the immediate future and then we are locked in to "out of state" investing. 

The barrier to entry (education, experience, money, connections) do seem to be quite a bit higher to get all of those above mentioned benefits in comparison to opening a brokerage account and purchasing stocks.No essay needed.

I'm looking to connect with a financial advisor who might be willing to answer some questions about my prospects with a one-year credit history, the tax implications I should be aware of, and so on.

Ideally, we can connect next week and my team and I can provide a free consultation on what may work best for you and your Mom with a few more details, but if I were to take the situation at face value and try and brainstorm an idea.
