If you want to help your parents, that is great, but don't look at it as an investment, maybe an investment in the family, but not an investment for an ROI.You can always move to another market and start a property management company.

I would suggest considering an investment that could help you pay off the HELOC quickly, given the high interest rates typically associated with them.
