If the credit report is showing an error, it should be easy enough to get it removed if you have some supporting documentation.If the report is showing correct information, you might want to try a goodwill letter to the creditor.

Correcting drainage issues can be very costly.To your main question, it would bother me to find out that the sq/ft was off by that much.

you are correct but look at buying an Ozone Generator instead of renting.  

How can we reply stating we don’t plan on fixing these things at the moment but that we are aware and they won’t be charged for this when they move out?
