While I've found some interesting methods to display the factors, some may as well be a four dimensional pretzel.With a more clear picture of all that's involved, I'll work on applying my relationship network to the picture so I may recognize areas which need improvement and/or knowledge gain.

In terms of not taking crazy risks I feel with my education (JD/MBA) and construction experience (4 years running my own company) I have the tools to evaluate the financials of a deal to not do anything stupid even though I recognize I've got a lot to learn.

It has to do with an interesting aspect of leverage that not one in a thousand business owners, CEOs or accountants ever recognize -- and those are the intangible assets.
