Maybe mold starts growing under the cabinets that you don't see... 

, installed ceiling fans, painted everywhere, new furnace and AC, updated electrical, new counter tops in bathrooms and kitchen, painted cabinets, new appliances, raised the height of the banister on the second floor, and a ton of small other details (door knobs, hinges, windows, etc.).

From what I have heard, using cost segregation you are able to depreciate certain repairs such as an AC system or new cabinets within 5 years from installation and up to a certain dollar amount per year (ex: $2500 per item per year).

I have a GC I use for most large items like removing walls, framing, siding, cabinet installs, etc.

It looks like from the pre-renovation pics to the post-renovation pics you painted the kitchen cabinets.  

I had to go to the neighbor state to get all my cabinets and doors!

We also experienced a shortage of cabinet builders and installers.
