Is there any company’s that you can suggest that you have had good experiences with and trust or maybe another strategy of managing a long distance STR.

But I suggest hiring a General contractor.

However, a few things I would suggest to give you a better perspective is: 1) Talk to property management companies in the area to see if they operate in the area and/or have comments on tenants in the area, 2) Speak to a few banks to understand how they would lend on this property, 3) Scan Zillow/craigslist and other listing sites to understand the rental market for listings...

There are small towns in Nevada outside Reno that do very well because of the mining job situation.   

Everything else is, comparatively, a bit “noisy”.The job market has begun to turn away from historic lows with current unemployment brushing up against 4%.

I hate to suggest this option in CA, but if the numbers work, it might be worth exploring putting a tenant in the townhouse, and getting a larger property with an ADU for less money in Temecula, then your family and mom move into the house?
