There is an overall shortage of housing in Pierce County as people are being priced out of King and move South. 

Santa Barbara County somewhat restricts growth, so there is a shortage of real estate. 

I thought there is still a housing shortage.

I never have a shortage of roommates and rent my 3 bedrooms individually for $600/month.

Seems pretty restrictive to me considering the metro area affordable housing shortage.

Certain areas of the country, like Seattle, had nice price run-ups due to shortage in housing.

There is a significant housing shortage in San Diego.  

Of course, appreciation is probably likely in Austin, but you are also paying every month to cover for shortage of the cashflow.

Obviously there's no shortage of money to be made and real estate is big in most cities like Portland but I've had a hard time finding groups and other other investors to meet and talk with.
