To answer your most important question, it was baseball Hall of Famer Leo Durocher who uttered the words "Nice Guys Finish Last" (or words to that effect) when being interviewed about his team and the players he managed. 

It was fun and I loved playing baseball for the school but reaching my goals 5 years sooner would have been even more satisfying. 

Unless you go Ivy League, no one cares where you got your degree from.

Pro baseball doesn’t pay well?!

I began playing baseball at the young age of 7 in Texas.

You mentioned oil heaters and I immediately knew I may be out of my league.

I have already committed to going to a Padres vs Cubs baseball game.I am leery of making commitments as I do not know what my schedule will be this far ahead of time.  

And the trading/activity that I've seen in Iowa for tax certs is basically person to person, from people that are active in the space, kind of like trading baseball cards as a kid.

What is complicated is the gov-mint working in concert with the Ivy League geniuses to design away risk using elaborate securities and having their buddies in the ratings agencies price the risk incorrectly.
