Grates on me because just after world war two my next door neighbor was an English war bride and a former professor of English at Oxford University and my siblings and I drove her crazy with our farm country English and improper use of the language. 

I talked about my childhood on a farm (my friend's - not my family's although I did not tell her that) and later we went out to walk and reminisce about her's there.
