- Did you guys file Form 8832 to be taxed as S-corp. 

In Michigan, the filing fee is $50 and takes 2 minutes.  

We filed on an expedited basis which frankly costs a lot but from what we understood, shortened the wait time from 12 months down to 6 months. 

You don't need to tell them that the pink window frames might not actually impact the monthly cash flow situation either way, they again already know to file that pinkness thing right next to "quarterly sensitivity training requirement" - in the "completely irrelevant to reality" category in their brains. 

It can be wrong simply from someone inputting the information wrong...or in the case of land records, it is pulling the information from PDF files which can often be blurry.

As for how to get that information ahead of time, things may get much easier when the state court system moves to e-filing... 

If the agent gives you hassle, advise that your next call will be to the NY Div Of RE to file a complaint.
