I feel that Indianapolis has much more economic diversity - tech companies, pharmaceutical/medical, several colleges, manufacturing, distribution centers, hospitality/convention centers -- so we are not as affected if one particular industry takes a dive.Our real estate areas are also very diverse.

Also since I've lived here my whole life, I can say that Pittsburgh was an older population until recent years where the city is now becoming more of a tech town in addition to it's already existent medical roots.

The military community and VA hospitals makes it an even better place to retire for former military members (who are not going to get shipped out and void a lease).There is a growing college and medical school near the heart of the city which is where most of our renters come from.The new jobs coming to the area also are creating the appreciation we are seeing.
