I am considering buying an investment property, but I have read multiple stories about deed fraud.

A: Sure - just run some lights on timers and nobody will know the difference.Problem: Occupancy fraud is not just a little bit illegal. 

I don’t have a proper definition or a litmus test to prove an owner’s identity as a slumlord but I know which owners I needed to move on from as soon as possible due to their maltreatment of their tenants.

From my understanding for FHA it absolutely has to be your primary residence for a year otherwise it is considered fraud from my understanding.
