I also look on Airbnb at properties that are fully booked and see what sort of rates they are getting (long term would be lower but you can weed out overpriced rental listings this way).You can also look at what an apartment is going for in the area and take an average... you can typically get a bit more for a single family home.In durham I would look at houses in American Village, Forest Hills, Woodcroft in that order if you want a sure bet. good luck!

I'm guessing and hoping ur not putting a public notice that u want to get rid of good American citizens that just happen to receive govt  assistance to pay rent to you??????    

This is 100% his choice, and I'm not going to deter him from pursuing his American Dream his way.But at some point, I think he's going to say "Chris, enough.

Although i found a lot of members investing from abroad, i haven't found all the answers that i'm looking for and decided to start this discussion to describe my situation and hopefully start relationships with other members who would be able to guide me and others in my venture.I am an American citizen and have been living abroad for the past seven years.

Personally, I'd prefer the old-fashioned way of working with someone from the area that I can actually meet with in person but I have not seen anyone posting from the Garden State.

There are a fair number of corporate apartment complexes around here that operate in a similar fashion, which is just another reason I don't want to compete with them on MFH.

My Dad did it the old fashioned way of buying the land and building the properties - everything in cash, no mortgage transactions or anything of that sort.
