If you have to go a few miles away to find good comps, it’s better than using bad comps just because they’re on the same block.

I'm asking because I assume that if we record it, that would put an official mortgage on the house, which could block me from pulling any equity from the house, if I ever want to use it to purchase a third house.

Its in a great neighborhood next to good schools and a few blocks from a small downtown area.

I would highly suggest walking before you purchase and talking with neighbors about how your particular block is like to live on.Soutb & West Jackson offer a lot of opportunity, but it is a rough area.

@Gert Dervishaj I would stay away from the Cross Street/ Oliver street block, the Henry Street block, and the Mechanic Street block.

Another full duplex sold same block a few houses down 117k during the due diligence phase.
