Any kind of flower plantings will have to be pruned, headed, weeded, edged, etc.If it was a small yard, I'd just cover the whole thing with concrete and tell the tenants they can grow plants in pots.

They even complained on one that the local chipmunks and squirrels had eaten their plants in the garden (complete with photos of chewed plants) - and the remedy they sought for each of these filings was termination of the lease.

They change the rules (including whether or not you can continue to rent out your unit), they change the amount of the dues, they harass you about the plants you have on your patio....Take it from one who bought a condo expecting to live there forever, and sold it two years later - because of the HOA.Condos are also harder to finance, so they're harder to sell, too.
