From a comfort perspective I’d much rather wake up and put my feet on a warm rug than a cold floor.

You can warm it up a bit more but from the sounds of it they don't talk a whole lot. 

The reason for this is first, noise reduction, but second, tenants like the warm feeling carpet adds to a bedroom, not just on their feet when they step out of bed but it makes it feel cozier.
