I would much rather hold a property in LA for ten years than in almost any other city in America (and other investors agree, which is why the pricing is what it is).Also, before getting to the meat of it, I gotta tell you that my main goal is very much like yours: I've set a goal of "retiring" in 10 years and living off my rental portfolio (until I start pulling distributions from my retirement accounts, too).

They will usually stay in the home and find other ways to provide light (candles), heat (propane devices, small fires), and cook (they will bring & use outdoor BBQ's and camp stoves inside).  

- The first floor unit is duplex down but the Cook county assessor's site doesn't have basement as livable space.

With a little one and a full time job the thought of managing a short term rental exhausts me at the moment.

Can someone please provide assistance with getting a list of properties in Cook County (Chicago) that are delinquent on their property taxes?

If you want to get out of it quickly and there is enough meat on the bone, wholesale it?

I'm still cooking this part of the idea, but I don't think it'll be a huge challenge.
