They were cheap, and very easy to install and seem to be very resilient.

I installed Shaw resilient floating LVP with a 2mm hardwood/ laminate underlayment.

Resilient Vinyl Plank is a relatively new product similar to wood laminate flooring.

At this point in the market cycle, I think it’s wiser to look at historical appreciation, and which markets are historically the most resilient in a downturn.

However, for me and having a mattress background (and availability to discounted high end mattresses) I went with a more resilient innnerspring/memory foam option for the 3 beds in our VR. 

These niches have some downside resiliency with the right sponsor, location and management.  

If you are looking to deaden sound between units, you can use a dense mineral wool such as Roxul Safe-n-Sound in the joist cavities and then use resilient channel to hang the 5/8 (fire code) drywall on the ceiling - perhaps with shims.Since you need to provide adequate fire separation between units, you can address both matters at once.  

I hope to raise them to be bright and resilient.
