I've been with the USG for more then 20 years serving in both  the USMC and with the State Department in the Foreign Service.  

I wanted to see if I can get some feedback-suggestions from fellow foreign or Canadian investors who were able to get mortgage or loans to invest in US market.

We had vacation planned for Asheville in the fall (cycling the mountains and drinking delicious beer) until that stupid hurricane came through!  

We started like that one and a half year ago in Barcelona, Spain as a foreigner from the Netherlands. 

You can legally put the property into your LLC, however if your property is not registered in the same state, you will not be able to do any legal action on its behalf in that state (file for an eviction, contest a code enforcement action, etc...).You can either register your foreign company in that state or you can open a new LLC in that state.

I am pretty sure there are some foreign national investors doing real estate business in the U.S. while living overseas.

Other than that, the salmon and crab are delicious.

Land Trust, Living Trust, Revocable, Irrevocable, Foreign Trusts, etc etc, the general basic of it is using a self serving spend thrift trust with asset protection provisions in the trust.
