My original plan was to purchase a house hack here, get situated, then start purchasing rental properties both here, and throughout Detroit Metro (this is home for me and I travel there many times every year).

Boston is a desirable travel destination, maybe you can factor in AirBNB for your multifamily and see if that makes the numbers work. 

It could also be in central FL or South GA to save you on travel.

I have a scenerio that I have not experienced before, and doesn't even have any written rules against this in my lease agreement.I have a single family residence 3/2 in Fort Lauderdale that I rented out to several roommates who travel a lot.

I would recommend you travel down their line of thought and see what they have to offer, if anything.

Sometimes I'm traveling for work and racking up my balances, and then pay off the following month, and commonly see 50+ point swings in my score for using cards a lot.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a property manager in the area that could do nightly rentals or maybe someone who could target groups like traveling nurses, business people on short term contracts or families waiting for their home to be built?
