As a contractor I understand where they are coming from...but if you are purchasing all materials and they are local, there should be no reason for that much up front, I've traveled all over the US for investors and even then only generally have they pay for hotels for couple days up front and we get payments as work Progress's.

I keep my reading materials with me at all times and my phone stocked with podcasts and audible books so even though I don't have time to work on my investing every day, at least I can read or listen in any small amount of spare time I can find and keep up on education and motivation.

The course material should be the same, although I would say it definitely matters who your instructor is.The book you'll get is called "Principles and Practices of New Jersey Real Estate" by Frank W.

I would agree with the blown-in, it's not that cheap but it beats the rip-off, locating the screws isn't going to work, if you are doing it youself, and no labor cost, it might make sense, but remember, it's material vs time, I would just rip it off instead of locating screws.
