To me, this confirmed the value of focusing on an area, building a good maintenance team and a solid network of agents and contractors.  

Anyone from MA or CT looking to invest or are already investing in these states?

They focus on deals in the gentrifying areas of town, and target higher end tenant base they have built through professional networks. 

Anyways, the main point of this post is that I would like to start networking with local investors to learn more about getting into real estate investing.How would you guys recommend I do so?

You could also make an argument that out of state investing forces you to develop the system and network from Day 1 that will move you closer to passive investing than if you invested down the street. 

Are you finding deals directly through your network, or using Turnkey-type providers?

I lurked for quite a while, but it was time to take the next move and join a large network of people with experience to learn from, diverse backgrounds, and similar financial interests.I am a moderate DIY’er and purchased my first home for $12,000 as a short sale (it was once offered for $3,000).
